Plains Song

The Atkins family, of the Nebraska plains, is a family of women headed by Cora, who has learned to submit to the rhythms of nature and maintains a moral innocence. Her sister-in-law, Belle, dies in childbirth. Sharon Rose, Belle`s daughter, is raised by Cora and eventually leaves Nebraska for the sophistication of the East Coast.
